What started as a small beginning in Jaipur gradually became a family profession built through years of experience, relationships and an understanding of the gemstone trade — now continued from Surat, the diamond capital of the world.

Ram Chandra Singh Johri FOUNDER
In 1972, my great-grandfather Ram Chandra Singh Johri began his journey in the gemstone business. At a time when the trade was driven almost entirely by personal relationships, market knowledge and years of hands-on experience, he built the foundation of what would eventually become our family’s legacy.
His work introduced our family to a world where every stone had its own story, character and value.

The journey was then carried forward by my grandfather, Joginder Singh Johri. He took the knowledge and experience passed down to him and continued developing the family’s presence in the gemstone trade.
With every generation, the business grew not only through gemstones, but through something even more important — relationships and trust within the trade.

The legacy was later carried forward by my father, Gurvinder Singh Johri. With his experience and vision, he continued the family’s journey and established G.S. GEMS & JEWELS, building a business around natural gemstones and long-term relationships with clients and professionals in the industry.

Growing up around this business, gemstones were never simply something I saw at work — they were part of my everyday life. As I became more involved, my curiosity grew beyond the traditional gemstone trade.
I developed a particular interest in diamonds, fine jewellery and gemology, and began studying the science and characteristics behind the stones we work with at Arihant Diamond Institute, Surat and IIGJ. I wanted to understand not only how gemstones are traded, but why a stone is valuable, how its quality is evaluated, how it should be represented, and what a client should actually know before making a purchase.
That passion became the beginning of my own journey. Today, I am involved in our family’s gemstone business while simultaneously building my own identity through Diamondwith_Jagpreet from Surat.
My vision is to bring together the experience passed down through four generations with modern gemological knowledge, diamonds, fine jewellery and a more educational approach to the industry.
Carrying the Legacy Forward — From Jaipur to Surat
My great-grandfather Ram Chandra Singh Johri started the journey in 1972. My grandfather, Joginder Singh Johri, carried it forward. My father, Gurvinder Singh Johri, built upon that foundation and established G.S. GEMS & JEWELS. And today, I am stepping into the fourth generation as Jagpreet Singh Johri from Surat with my own vision.
I don't see my role as simply continuing what was started before me. I see it as building upon it.
The traditional knowledge, relationships and experience of our family remain the foundation. My goal is to combine that foundation with gemology, diamonds, technology, content and a modern approach to serving clients from Surat to India and around the world.
From 1972 to the Next Chapter in Surat
Four generations have brought us here. Different times. Different markets. Different challenges. But one thing has remained constant — our connection with precious stones and the relationships built around them.
The journey started with a single generation in 1972 in Jaipur. Today, it continues from Surat with a new generation carrying the same legacy forward, with a new vision for the future.
The legacy is inherited.
